Mentoring and Buddying Scheme

Care leavers interested in becoming a Peer Buddy and or Mentor will be given training. Peer Buddies help reduce isolation and loneliness by developing social connections and Mentors help with CV preparation, looking for employment, education and training and or accompanying them to interviews, advocating with social workers, housing providers, attending midwife sessions, mental health services, providing particle life and social skills

Adventure of a Lifetime

Providing opportunities to broaden their horizons e.g. through access to activities such as the Arts and cultural events, Rees Adventure of a Lifetime Projects; our most recent project, we sponsored a 23-year-old care experienced young woman to walk part of the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage Trek over 2 weeks.

Budgeting and Finance

Being prepared for independence is complex enough without having to think about budgeting. Many care leavers have never had to think about their finances. Through 1-2-1, small group work workshops (and webinar if needed) we give ‘practice spreadsheets’ to enable care leavers to understand and manage their finances.

D.A.D Project

(Dads are diamonds) – we are developing a new project specifically aimed at supporting care leaver young Dads to develop the skills and capabilities to be actively engaged with their child/children and thus lesson the isolation and hopelessness young Dads tell us they feel if they do not have access or a part to play in their child life and this in turn often leads to destructive behavior and long-term unemployment.
